Events & Community Assistants

About the role

Help plan and run vJST community activities—group flights, contests, seasonal events, and Discord happenings. Work with Ops, Livery, and Comms to keep the community active and welcoming.

What you’ll do

  • Plan/host community events (monthly focus, group flights, themed fly-ins, challenges)
  • Write clear briefs: route, timings, comms, assets, ATC/partner notes
  • Create Discord Events, announcements, reminders
  • Support social posts (copy, simple graphics/clips) and moderate event channels
  • Track engagement and suggest improvements
  • Coordinate giveaways/partner spotlights (within vJST guidelines)
  • Share post-event summaries and highlights

What you’ll need

  • Friendly, confident communicator
  • Solid Discord knowledge (roles, threads, Events, basic mod tools)
  • Reliable organisation across time zones
  • Basic graphics/video tools (Canva/Adobe Express OK)
  • Comfortable writing concise announcements/instructions

Nice to have

Operations Assistant

About the role

Keep the vJST network accurate and up to date with real-world Jetstar operations. You’ll update routes, schedules, and aircraft assignments in vAMSYS so our pilots fly an authentic timetable that reflects current ops and fleet moves.

What you’ll do

  • Maintain and update the vJST route network in vAMSYS (add/edit/retire services)
  • Mirror real-world changes: new/ended routes, frequency tweaks, seasonal shifts, airport updates
  • Keep aircraft assignments realistic across bases and sub-types (A320 family, A321neo/LR, etc.)
  • Ensure data hygiene: validity dates, flight numbers, block/turn times, tags, notes
  • Sanity-test entries (booking flow, SimBrief export, PIREP checks) and fix issues quickly
  • Monitor reliable sources (timetables, airline/airport notices, trackers) and propose updates
  • Prepare small CSV/spreadsheet batches for bulk imports when helpful
  • Coordinate with Events/Comms for promos/featured flights when routes change

What you’ll need

  • Strong attention to detail and consistency in data entry
  • Familiarity with vAMSYS/SimBrief basics (or willingness to learn quickly)
  • Comfortable with spreadsheets/CSV and simple data workflows
  • Clear communication and teamwork in Discord

Nice to have

  • Experience reading schedules/trackers (timetables, FR24/RadarBox, airport ops pages)
  • Light scripting/automation for CSV/JSON imports (optional)

Social Media Influencer

About the role

Help grow vJST’s reach by creating engaging short-form content and posts that highlight our events, liveries, routes, and community moments. You’ll collaborate with the Comms and Events teams to plan content, keep branding consistent, and publish across TikTok, Instagram Reels, and YouTube Shorts.

What you’ll do

  • Plan a simple monthly content calendar aligned with events/releases
  • Capture and edit short clips (vertical) from MSFS/X-Plane or VODs
  • Write captions, tags, and post copy that fits each platform
  • Cross-post consistently to TikTok / Instagram / YouTube Shorts
  • Coordinate with Events for promos, recaps, and giveaways
  • Track basic analytics (views, engagement) and suggest improvements
  • Respond to comments where appropriate and escalate issues to staff
  • Follow vJST brand and community guidelines

What you’ll need

  • Confident communicator with a friendly, community-first tone
  • Experience editing vertical short-form video (CapCut, Premiere, DaVinci, etc.)
  • Understanding of platform basics (hooks, CTAs, sounds, tags)
  • Reliable time management and ability to hit simple posting targets
  • Comfort writing concise, clear captions and on-brand copy

Livery Creator

Livery Dept Volunteer/Staff Posted: 2025-08-22

About the role

As a Livery Creator, you’ll design, maintain, and package vJST aircraft liveries for our supported simulators. You’ll work closely with Operations and Community teams to keep our fleet current and looking sharp, with easy installs for pilots.

What you’ll do

  • Design and update liveries across key airframes (e.g., A320 family & B788)
  • Ensure brand consistency (colours, logos, typography, registrations, details, dirt/wear levels)
  • Prepare sim-ready packages for MSFS (layout/manifest JSON, thumbnails) and/or X-Plane (livery structure, icons)
  • Test liveries in-sim (night lighting, roughness/metallic maps, mirroring seams, door/window alignment)
  • Version and maintain a simple changelog; update previews and download links as needed
  • Handle community requests (special schemes, event liveries) within the agreed scope

What you’ll need

  • Portfolio or examples of previous repaint work (links or screenshots)
  • Good knowledge of common paint kits and UV layouts (PSD/XCF), basic PBR workflows
  • Tools: Photoshop or GIMP (required); Substance/Blender optional for advanced work
  • Familiarity with packaging formats (MSFS DDS/BC7 + JSON manifests; X-Plane PNG/DDS)
  • Sharp attention to detail (alignment, colour accuracy, artifacts)

Nice to have

  • Experience with aircraft-specific kits (Fenix A320, PMDG 737, Toliss A32X, etc.)
  • Basic Git/Drive file management for sharing and versioning
  • Light image editing for storefront tiles / promo banners
